Dear Chapters,
20 weeks agoI'm a past pupil of St. Kilian’s German School, and I’m running a Charity Gig in Vicar Street in November for a charity project called Project Peru, I understand you are very busy but please read the following information about our charity and maybe you might be interested in helping out and playing our gig! We have also been in contact with The Dirty Epics, Delorentos, The Blizzards and Television Room and are waiting responses!
Project Peru is a Charity that was set up by the pupils and staff of St. Kilian’s School in Clonskeagh Dublin. The initiative was set up three years ago to raise €60,000 to build an irrigation system in the village of Los Angles in the Mache region of Peru. Since then, the project has flourished into a successful, registered charity. This summer we will be travelling to Peru, to begin the project.
However once this trip is over the Charity will continue to grow in conjunction with the Sisters of Mercy in Peru, who work closely with the people. Our hope is to continue the project by financing and building similar projects within the Mache region.
Our Charity Gig, to be held in Vicar Street in November 2008 will be the first fundraiser in the second phase of project.
Of course the gig will benefit the Charity but it will also benefit the band. Most notably by helping to increase your ever-expanding fan base across the country and help promote your new album. The target audience will be 16-23 year olds. Also you already have a very good image but the bands image can only be increased if they are seen to be actively showing an interest in helping people around the world. There will also be nationwide media exposure on top of what you already receive as one of Ireland’s most prestige’s bands.
The date we have agreed with Vicar Street is Wednesday 19th November and we hope that you will be able to perform on this date and help generate much need funds for the Charity.
The generation of such funds is vital for the people of the Mache region. The region consists of 15 villages and life is very basic. Many of the people, predominantly the women are illiterate, as they have never had the chance to attend school. As a result their main source of income is from agricultural produce. In this way an effective irrigation system is vital. It will allow the people to water their crops freely and they will be able to produce two crops a year. This will bring money into the village thus allowing the children, both boys and girls to attend school, as education is the key to ending poverty. In this way the project is far reaching as it benefits the people of the present and the children of the future.
We would greatly appreciate if you could lend us your time and talent in Vicar Street in November and help make the night a great success.
Regards,
Cian Donohoe,
